Find sexual health resources for the classroom

Sexual health education is part of the physical and health education (PHE) curriculum. Yukon schools teach sexual education to students in:

  • Kindergarten to Grade 9; and
  • Planning and Careers 10.

To support with delivery of comprehensive sexual health education, we provide resources that:

  • create a respectful environment and safe classroom culture; and
  • have clear standards and guidelines for training and presentations.

Kindergarten to Grade 3

Use this video with guides to cover these PHE learning standards:

  • names for parts of the body, including proper names for genitals and reproductive organs; and
  • the appropriate and inappropriate ways of being touched.

Grade 4

Use this guide to cover these PHE learning standards:

  • physical, emotional and social changes that occur during puberty, including those involving sexuality and sexual identity and changes to relationships; and
  • puberty (the changes that bodies go through).

Grade 5

Grade 6

  • practices that reduce the risk of contracting sexual transmitted infections and life-threatening communicable diseases; and
  • influences on individual identity, including sexual identity, gender, values and beliefs:
    • sexually transmitted infections, viruses and bacteria that make us sick;
    • sexual orientation;
    • gender identity;
    • consent.

Grade 7
