Sexual orientation can include, but is not limited to:
- gay refers to someone who is attracted to members of the same gender;
- lesbian is a female who is attracted to females;
- bisexual a person who is attracted to both members of their own gender and other genders;
- heterosexual is someone who is attracted to members of the opposite gender, also called “straight”;
- homosexual is someone who is attracted to members of the same gender, also called “gay”;
- pansexual is someone who is attracted to people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex;
- asexual is someone with a lack of sexual attraction to others; and
- queer is an umbrella term for anyone who is not heterosexual and/or does not identify as the gender they were assigned at birth.
