Sexual Orientation

Sexual orientation can include, but is not limited to:

  • gay refers to someone who is attracted to members of the same gender;
  • lesbian is a female who is attracted to females;
  • bisexual a person who is attracted to both members of their own gender and other genders;
  • heterosexual is someone who is attracted to members of the opposite gender, also called “straight”;
  • homosexual is someone who is attracted to members of the same gender, also called “gay”;
  • pansexual is someone who is attracted to people, regardless of their gender identity or biological sex;
  • asexual is someone with a lack of sexual attraction to others; and
  • queer is an umbrella term for anyone who is not heterosexual and/or does not identify as the gender they were assigned at birth.
